Saint Daria

Saint Daria, a unique saint, lived in Alexandria.
Daria was a beautiful, young, pagan woman who was compelled to marry a man named Chrysanthus.  He had been a pagan, too.  But after he was enlightened and became a Christian, his unbelieving father forced him to marry Daria in the hopes that the young man would renounce his faith in Christ.  However, Chrysanthus lead Daria to become a follower of Christ.  He honored her virginity and the married couple lived together as brother and sister.
When they were eventually martyred together in 248 AD, witnesses of their courageous deaths were inspired to become martyrs as well.
The ancient Greek name "Daria" means "upholder of the good."
We honor this Holy Virgin Martyr on March 19.
Holy Virgin Martyr Daria, help us to conduct all of our relationships in purity and respect.  May true goodness be our goal.  Amen.
