Saint Anthusa of Seleucia | | Saint Anthusa lived in Seleucia in Syria. | | When she learned about the Lord Jesus, she gave her heart to Christ. But because her parents were unbelievers, in fact, they were pagans, she was baptized secretly. After that, she fled to the wilderness to live a simple but difficult life of prayer to avoid seeing her parents ever again. She lived as an ascetic for twenty three years. | | Saint Anthusa reposed in the Lord, that is, died, while kneeling on a rock in prayer in about the year 250 A.D. | | We honor this Holy Virgin on August 22. | | Holy Virgin Anthusa, pray for us to be strong enough to avoid any relationships which would come between us and our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. |
