Saint Katherine

Saint Katherine was a beautiful, wise, well-educated, young woman who lived in Alexandrian Egypt. However, she chose to use her personal power for the glory of God rather than to marry any of the men who sought after her.  When the emperor tried to tempt her with worldly glory, riches and honor, Katherine prefered to die for the Heavenly Bridegroom, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Saint Katherine lived during the 4th century. The name "Katherine" is related to the Greek word for "pure." We honor the Holy Great Virgin Martyr Katherine on November 24.  Holy Great Martyr Katherine, help us to dedicate our personal power to God and to choose purity in the Name of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen.
