Lollipop Asiatic Lilies surround the fountain in the side yard outside our kitchen window.  The lilies blossom each spring just in time for the feast of Axion Estin.

The icon, which is painted on both sides of the wooden circle, was painted by one of our Sisters.  Each spring we bring it out of the kitchen where it winters, to hang in the arch where it can be seen by passers-by.

The fountain is dry but soon fills with rainwater and becomes a huge birdbath for the blue jays, cardinals, robins, and myriads of other birds whose names we do not know.

When the lilies have completed their yearly display, the area is replanted with annuals to be enjoyed until the autumn chill takes its toll.
